What is the purpose of a bidet? How does an IUD actually work, and does Coca-Cola have anything to do with contraception?
Since 2007, the world's first and only Museum of Contraception and Abortion has been exploring all these questions in depth. Using objects, images, and stories, the museum explores the painful struggle for control over fertility. From antiquity through the Middle Ages to the present day, with glimpses into the future, medical, political, and social developments are documented and discussed.
During our guided tours, visual materials are passed around, stories are told, and visitors gain insights into the processes that take place in our own bodies. The MUVS shows that having control over our own fertility is something we all have a role in shaping—and something we must sometimes fight hard for.
